Use of Cookies
What are Cookies?
A Cookie is a very small text file that is placed on your computer's hard drive when accessing a Website. Essentially it is an identification card, which is uniquely yours and can only be read by the server that gave it to you. It cannot be used to deliver computer viruses.
 
What does a Cookie look like?
A cookie looks something like this: 
Cookie:username@www.workplaceinfo.com.au/
 
Why does WorkplaceInfo use Cookies?
Our site uses cookies to store your login information – this means that each time you visit WorkplaceInfo, you are automatically logged in. WorkplaceInfo also uses cookies to collect general information about visitors' behaviour on the site. These cookies do not capture or track any personal information.
This information is not stored in a way that allows other people access to your login details, however if someone else does visit WorkplaceInfo from your computer, they will have full access to the site as if you were using your computer yourself.
 
How to check which browser you are using:
To find your version of Internet Explorer, click Help, then select About Internet Explorer. If you don't see the Help menu, press Alt to show the menus
 
To find your version of Safari, click Safari, then click About Safari
 
To find your version of Firefox, click Help, then select About Firefox. If you don't see the Help menu, click the orange Firefox button  in the top left corner of the browser
 
How to check if you have cookies enabled:
To enable cookies in Internet Explorer 7 or 8:
1. Click Start > Control Panel. (With Windows XP Classic View, click the Windows Start button > Settings > Control Panel).
2. Double-click the Internet Options icon.
3. Select the Privacy tab.
4. Click Advanced.
5. Select "Override automatic cookie handling" under the "Cookies" section in the Advanced Privacy Settings window.
6. Select the "Accept" or "Prompt" option under "First-party Cookies."
7. Select the "Accept" or "Prompt" option under "Third-party Cookies." (If you select the "Prompt" option, you'll be asked for approval every time a website attempts to send you a cookie.)
8. In the Internet Options window, click OK to exit.
 
To enable cookies in Mozilla Firefox 3.x for Windows:
1. Click Tools > Options.
2. Click Privacy in the top panel.
3. Set "Firefox will:" to Use custom settings for history.
4. Check the box next to "Accept cookies from sites" to enable cookies.
5. Click OK.

To enable cookies in Safari:
1. Go to the Safari drop-down menu.
2. Select Preferences.
3. Click Security in the top panel.
4. Under "Accept Cookies" select Only from sites you navigate to

What do you do if you get the message "Login Failed" or "WorkplaceInfo has been unable to read your cookie".
The page that displays this message will give you an option to delete the cookie. If you continue to get this message the cookie can be deleted manually via the browser's options. Simply find the cookie named cookie:yourname@www.workplaceInfo.com.au/ or clear all your cookies by following the instructions below. Please be aware that deleting your browser's cookies might fix the problem, however it will also remove your saved settings for sites you've visited.
 
Internet Explorer 8.x
1. In Internet Explorer, click Tools. If you don't see the menu, press Alt on your keyboard to show menus.
2. Select Delete Browsing History.
3. Select the checkbox next to Cookies.
4. Click Delete.
5. Once your cookies have been deleted, click Okay.

Internet Explorer 7.x
1. In Internet Explorer, click Tools. If you don't see the menu, press Alt on your keyboard to show menus.
2. Click Delete cookies.
3. Click Yes in the confirmation window.
4. Click Close.

Firefox 3.5.x for Windows
1. In Firefox, click the Tools menu.
2. Select Clear Recent History.
3. Under "Time Range to Clear," select Everything.
4. Select the "Details" checkbox.
5. Select the "Cookies" checkbox.
6. Click Clear Now.

Firefox 3.x for Windows
1. In Firefox, click the Tools menu.
2. Click Options.
3. Click Privacy.
4. In the "Cookies" section, click Show Cookies.
5. In the Cookies dialog box, click Remove All Cookies.
6. Click OK to close the Cookies dialog box.
7. Click OK to close the Options window.

Safari 3.x for Mac OS X
1. Click the Safari menu.
2. Select Empty Cache.
3. Click Empty.
