Documentation

WorkplaceInfo provide comprehensive documentation and guidelines for HR professionals when it comes to employee termination. See more information here. Documentation is a very important part of a termination of employment. At the first instance, it is vital to have a well drafted Termination and Redundancy Policy. Such a policy should set out behaviours which would constitute a serious breach of the employment contract, as well as indicating the resulting consequences. Correspondence should be used to communicate with the relevant employee(s) to ensure that all issues are documented ‘in writing’ and that employees are fully informed. Checklists highlight key considerations and serve as useful 'prompts' for actions to take.
